This past weekends college football schedule for The Y, the U, and Utah State had everybody in the state excited. Each member of Utah's big 3 was taking on a high profile BCS conference team, and a lot of people thought there was a legit chance that our state could put even more pressure on the BCS to change!
At least for now - all of that will have to wait. All the big 3 served up were 3 BIG disappointments, as Utah couldn't keep up with Oregon down the stretch, Utah State came up just short in what could have been a huge upset against Texas A&M, and BYU decided not to show up against FSU. For Utah it was the end of the nations longest winning streak. For BYU it marked the first home loss in 3 years. And for USU.....it was the same old same old.
The part that bugs me the most is this...NOW NONE OF THE TEAMS FROM UTAH HAVE A SHOT AT THE BCS, While the teams that beat us, who all have 2-1 records still have a legit shot at not only playing in a BCS game, but also the national championship. Oklahoma even has a better shot at that than anybody from Utah. It just goes to show how bad of a system the BCS is.
But hey, lets look on the bright side....Vegas is beautiful in December. Just ask Bronco Mendenhall, he knows all about it.

It was a sad and somber day for the state.
ReplyDeleteSame old, same old.... HA! That is all about to change. Just wait until USU plays BYU ;)
But at least they are getting face time with these teams! I'm glad to see that. I really don't know what happened to the Y?!?!? I mean, the Utes are just "stupid Utes", but BYU had a legit chance against FSU. I hope both of them can regain their composure and still put up a good ending game of the season and down in Vegas.
ReplyDeleteWhaddya think about the Washington USC game? Holy freakin moly! I saw a little bit on my lunch at work, and wow did Washington look mean! Holy moly is all I have to say. Also, my friend Lance heard that Urban Meyer is probably going to Notre Dame at the end of the season. Have you heard anything about that yet? Apparently the #2 high school player in the country who is LDS AND preparing for a mission is saying he wants to play for Notre Dame for some reason (the most famous catholic school in the world)?!!? Maybe he wants to procelyte down there? Who knows...
ReplyDeleteI don't really like your poll...I know the conference champ gets to go to "the Veg" (or the 3rd place team like the zoo did last year), but I really think it's kind of a crap hole...I'll vote for you guys to go to the Vegas crap hole bowl just in hopes that Utah will go to a cool bowl game :)
